Each year the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks presents three awards to Outstanding members of the Lodge and the Community. These are; Officer of the Year, Elk of the Year and Citizen of the Year. These award were presented this year at the Elks Mothers Day Program and Awards Ceremony by the 2006-2007 Exalted Ruler, William Carroll. This years winner of The Officer of the Year was Terry Young of Leechburg who presently is a member of the Board of Trustees. Tery spends many hours each day carrying out the day to day operations of the Lodge and making the Lodge a safe and pleasant refuge for our members and guests. Bob Gray of Freeport was named Elks of the Year for his willingness to step in and help whenever he is needed. Gary Keefer who was named Citizen of the Year was unable to attend and will receive his award at the next Lodge meeting. Gary who is a native of Leechburg and presently lives in Penn Hills served in the Army as a helicopter pilot and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring. He has been active with the Leechburg Museum and has presented several informative historical talks at the Lodge.
