Elks Hold Mother's Day Dinner & Awards Ceremony

Leecburg Elks Lodge 377 held its annual Motherís Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony recently in the Lodge Ballroom. A delicious buffet, served by Addison House Catering, was enjoyed by all attending. Among guests for this dinner were four generations of the Donaldson family, including Emily Donaldson, her daughter Jane Favero, her grand daughter Jill Ansani and Great Grand children, Patrick Magill, Connor Magill, Kelsie Magill, and Cayden Ansani..Her daughter, grand daughter and great grandchildren watched proudly as Emily was presented the Elks Citizenship Award for her 50 plus years of service to the Leechburg community. Also receiving awards from Exalted Ruler Bill Carroll were; Trustee Stanley Zydonik, Elk of the Year, and Trustee Joseph Dubovi, Officer of the Year for their hard work maintaining and improving the Lodge. Special Exalted Ruler Certificates of Appreciation were presented to: the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, who have assisted with many of the special events held during the year; to Sandra Fetterman, who stepped in as Treasurer and has made herself available whenever needed; and to
Major (USAF retired) Anthony Shea Jr. for his leadership and hard work as Chairman of the Drug Awareness and Veterans Service Committees. The BPOE has always believed that our nationís youth are our future and have provided and supported programs for youth as a large part of their mission. Leecburg Elks this year was involved in many youth programs, including; Drug Awareness, Scouting, the Hoop Shoot, Little League, and scholarships. Athe annual Mothers Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony, the Lodge honored two first place winners in the Elks Drug Awareness, Poster/Essay Contest and three Hoop Shoot Winners who participated in the West Central District Shoot-Off. Anthony Shea Jr., the Leechburg Lodge Drug Awareness Chairman and Chairman for the West Central District Drug Awareness Program presented Certificates of Achievement and $50 U.S. Saving Bonds to Megan Vigna (Leechburg Elementary School) first place winner in the 5th grade division and Kali Leibert, (Cardinal Maida Academy) first place winner in the 6th grade division . Exalted Ruler, William Carroll, presented Certificates of Athletic Excellence to Isaac Wolfe, ( first place 10-11 year old boys division) and Gabriel Wolfe ( first place 12 - 13 year old boys division) Neal McDermot, first place winner of both the local and West Central District 8-9 year old boys division was unable to attend the awards ceremony and will receive his certificate
at a future date.
