The Leechburg Elks with the assistance of the Leechburg Basketball Boosters and the Leechburg Blue Devil Basketball Team recently hosted the first ever Mystery Dinner Theater in Leechburg. The Elks Ballroom, bedecked in blue and white Leechburg High School decor was filled to capacity when the lights went out and a gunshot and blood curdling scream were heard. When the lights came back on, Buddy Valentino, the womanizing former high school quarterback lay dead in his salad. The audience sat spellbound as Inspector Gerheim and Police Chief Diebold questioned the “persons of interest” , Harriet Wormley, Jim Shaeffer, and Miss Kitty Cromwell. The audience was given the opportunity to solve the mystery at the end of the second act. Who killed Buddy Valentino? That question was answered during the third act to the surprise of many of the members of the audience. Bet ween acts, members of the Leechburg Blue Devil Basketball Team served the meal which was prepared by the Basketball Boosters. The play was written by Major (USAF ret.) Anthony Shea Jr. who also served as the Master of Ceremonies, and was directed by Franci Strapac, a retired Leechburg school teacher. John Shea of Shea Design Studio, assisted by Billie Jo Jendrey of the AKLC Studios provided the sound system for the event and the Karaoke following the Mystery Dinner Theater. Earl Turner served as Lighting Director. The Lodge thanks all who worked so hard and donated time, equipment, services, products and money to make this event a great success.
