Leechburg Elks Lodge recently welcomed Kathy Camilleri, RN and Angela Yackuboskey LPN, two of the PA Elks Home Service Nurses to the Lodge. The nurses provided information on the Home Service Nurse Program and the work being done in our area by the nurses. Ms Camilleri sees clients in Westmoreland County and Ms. Yackoboskey services Indiana and Armstrong Counties. Although most Pennsylvanians are unaware of the services provided by the Elks Home Service Nurse Program , this program has provided caring and invaluable assistance to many families thoughout the Commonwealth. Founded in 1963, The Elks Home Service Nurse Program now has 26 full time Nurses, who visit persons with a variety of developmental disorders in 67 counties of the Commonwealth. This includes those with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, and other disorders. The services of these nurses is provided FREE of charge to clients with these conditions and their families. The nurses visit their clients regularly and assist the clients in locating needed services and cutting through red tape to get them. The funding for this project comes from donations from the local Lodges, the Elks National Foundation, the Elks Legacy Trust Fund and donations from the people in our local communities. In Leechburg, the Lodge contributes profits from special fundraisers, the Wednesday Night Bingo, and individual contributions by our members and members of the community to this Project. Anyone can make a referral for these services. The client does not have to be an Elk or even be related to an Elk member. To make a Referral, call the Program Director, Patricia O’Connor at 814-781-7860 or the Assistant Progrm Director, Margie Wood at 724-225-1395.
