Leechburg Elks Mothers Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony

Leecburg Elks Lodge 377 recently held its annual Motherís Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony with a buffet dinner served by Ciceroís Catering in the Lodge Ballroom. The event was opened by Exalted Ruler William Carroll who welcomed the crowd then introduced Mary Jendrey Executive Director of the Alle-Kiski Learning Center who delivered the Invocation. Following dinner, the Lodge Officers presented the special Elks "Tribute to Mothers". District Drug Awareness Chairman Anthony Shea Jr., assisted by Michael Gerheim of Leechburg, then presented First Place Certificates and a $50 US Savings Bond to each of the following Drug Awareness Poster Contest Winners; third grade winner, Matt McCorkle, fourth grade winner, Kasey Klapheke, fifth grade winner, Natalie Geminetti, and sixth grade winner, Cynthia Yurga, all of David Leech Elementary School. Also receiving awards from Exalted Ruler William Carroll were; Rosemarie Shea, Elk of the Year, Ronald Wylie, Esquire, Officer of the Year, and Michael Gerheim, the Citizenship Award. Special Exalted Ruler Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, who have assisted with many of the special events held during the year; and this yearís top membership recruiter, Stanley Zydonik. Betty Kanas, President of the Auxiliary accepted the award for the Ladies Auxiliary.
