The Leechburg-Gilpin Lions Club wants to send someone away…to summer camp!
Sixty-five-year-old Beacon Lodge Camp near Mount Union, Pennsylvania, offers a variety of programs for blind, visually impaired, and special needs adults and children. This unique facility’s activities include hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, games, camping and canoeing. With special adaptations, the camp is able to offer archery, riflery, a climbing wall, and a zip line.

Registration is $75.00, but the LGLC will cover the sponsorship costs for a qualified candidate. As with so many worthwhile organizations, the camp is no longer state funded. Sessions run from June 1 to August 10.

For information and the appropriate registration forms, call the camp at 814-542-2311 or e-mail them at There are application deadlines for each session.
