Written By: Joseph Kantor
Story Date: April 11, 2013

Ladybugs and fireflies will be the main attraction in two Citizen Science Programs scheduled this spring at Leechburg Public Library. The program is an ongoing effort by the Audubon Society to partner with local residents to promote family participation in scientific research in their neighborhoods. The programs are open to people of all ages, but class size is limited to twenty students.
Data collected by participants will be used to study bird and insect population trends over time for our region. Training sessions will teach participants what to look for as well as correct gathering and reporting procedures.
Lady bugs will be the subject on May 16, 2013, 6:30-8 p.m. Fireflies will get all the attention on June 11, 6:30- 8 p.m..
For information or to register, please call the library at 727-845-1911 during regular business hours, 3-8 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, or leave a message on our answering machine.
