Leechburg Elks Hoop Shoot Winners Announced

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot, hosted by Leechburg BPOE Lodge 377, was held on January 14, 2006, in the Leechburg High School Gym. The children were divided into six groups of boys/girls ages 8-9 years, 10 -11 years and 12- 13 years. Age groups were determined by participants age as of April 1, 2006. The Leechburg Elks competition was open to all children in the Alle-
Kiski Valley in these age groups. Each child threw 25 free throws and those scoring highest in each group were declared the first place winners - all of the first place winners are now eligible to participate in the West Central District Shoot-Off to be held at the Homer City High School on
January 29th. In the event that any of the first place winners are unable to participate, the runner up in that group will be asked to fill in. In the 8-9 year old girls competition, Alyssa Hobbins, daughter of Rick and Tillie Hobbins took first place. Ryan McDermott, son of Lisa and Tom McDermott placed first in the boys 8-9 year old group with Ryan Roberts, son of Michelle and Bill Roberts as runner up. Placing third was Matt Rzewnicki, son of Robin and Dan Rzenicki,
Kenzie Young, daughter of Michael and Debbie Young, took first place in the 10 - 11 year old girls competition. First place in the 10 - 11 year old boys group was won by Alex Sipolino, son of Ernie and Danielle Sipolino, with Raymond Sipolino, son of Raymond and June Sipolino, winning the runner up position. Tyler Dubovi place third in the 10 - 11 year old boy competition. The first place winner in the 12 - 13 year old boys group was Dom Strapac, son of John and Francis Strapac, with Andrew McDermott, son of Lisa and Tom McDermott, placing as runner up. D.J. Oberdorf, son of Teresa Oberdorf and Austin Sipolino, son of Ernie and Danielle Sipolino tied for the third place position in the 12 - 13 year old boy competition. The Lodge wishes to thank Hoop Shoot Chairman Dale Frederick, and all the volunteers who helped make this event an enjoyable experience for the children.
